The plain green creeper is gone. In its place are 16 biome-specific creepers, each with its own look, behavior and themed drops. The creeper you run into now tells you something about where you are — a sandy one in the desert, a mossy one in caves, an explosive pufferfish in warm oceans.
Three kinds of creeper
- Explosive — the classic boom (a bit bigger if charged by lightning).
- Melee — these don't explode; they fight you hand-to-hand instead (bamboo, savannah, snowy, ocean).
- Passive — the mushroom creeper never attacks and only runs away.
Some are neutral (bamboo, hills, savannah, snowy) and leave you alone unless you hit them first.
A few highlights¶
| Creeper | Where | What's different |
|---|---|---|
| Ocean Creeper | Warm oceans (rare) | A pufferfish that puffs up and rams you instead of exploding. |
| Dark Oak Creeper | Dark forests | Its blast inflicts Wither on top of the damage. |
| Cave Creeper | Caves | Can drop rare ores — iron, gold, even diamond. |
| Desert / Badlands | Deserts, mesas | Shear them with scissors for a Tiny Cactus decoration. |
| Mushroom Creeper | Mushroom fields | Friendly — only dangerous if you set it off on purpose. |
Each variant drops something tied to its biome — gold in badlands, prismarine on beaches, dripstone in caves, logs in forests, wool in the snow — so every creeper is a small local resource.
